, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) are both
listed among the nation’s best in several national pre-season individual
polls.
Maney,
now a senior, has earned two All-America titles at 141 pounds but will move up
to 149 pounds for the 2003-04 season. He is listed as high as third in the InterMat
Division I Wrestling poll, and rates fourth by the Amateur
Wrestling News and eighth by TheMat.com.
Maney went 30-6 overall last season and captured his third-straight
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) title, posting seven major
decisions and seven falls among his wins. The
three-year starter enters his final season just 15 wins away from becoming the
14th Bald Eagle to eclipse the 100-wins mark.
Sophomore
Morgan Horner was an NCAA qualifier as a freshman at 197 pounds last season,
also finishing as the runner-up at both PSAC and EWL championships. He is
ranked as high as fourth in TheMat.com
poll, and is situated fifth at 197 pounds by Amateur
Wrestling News and sixth by InterMat.
Horner posted a 21-11 overall record with six major decisions and six falls as
a rookie and was also voted the EWL and PSAC Rookie of the Year.
The
Lock Haven wrestling team, under second-year head coach Rocky Bonomo, will open
up the 2003-04 season at the East Stroudsburg Open on Nov. 22.
LHU’s Mat-Town USA Tournament is slated for Nov. 29, action opening at
8 a.m.
