Field Hockey's Alderfer Takes Home NEC Player of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Amanda Alderfer (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), a sophomore on the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania field hockey team, has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week for all games through Sept. 13.

The sophomore forward earns Player of the Week honors after netting both of Lock Haven’s goals, including the game winner in the second half, in a 2-1 victory over the Big East’s Villanova. With the win, Lock Haven maintained their spotless 5-0 record, while handing the Wildcats their first loss of the season.

Alderfer’s honor gives LHU a sweep of the last two NEC Player of the Week accolades. Junior Nikki Sweger (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin East) took last week’s award.

Alderfer, Sweger and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action against the University at Albany Thursday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m.
