LHU Alum Named to Golf Coaches Hall of Fame

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – A four-year Lock Haven University letterwinner in both basketball and baseball, Norm Sundstrom (class of 1953) will be inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Hall of Fame at the association’s annual convention in New Orleans on Jan. 12.

Head coach at Allegheny College from 1970-1997, Sundstrom-led squads made 21 straight NCAA appearances - more than any coach in the history of Division III men’s golf at the time of his retirement in 1997. His team won the Division III national title in 1983, earning him National Coach of the Year honors. Sundstrom won conference coach of the year honors 14 times and was named district coach of the year on nine occasions.

Sundstrom adds the GCAA to a long list of hall of fame inductions, including the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania Basketball Hall of Fame and the Allegheny College Hall of Fame.
