LOCK
HAVEN, Pa. – Fresh off a win
at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)
meet, the No. 7 Lock Haven University men’s cross
country team joins up with women’s cross country to
compete at the NCAA East Regional Meet at Indiana
University (Pa.) Saturday, Nov. 6. The men’s team looks
to defend their East crown from a year ago.
Head
coach Aaron Russell has his men’s squad at the
peak of performance at the right time of year. Not only
did they take the team title at the PSAC meet, but
Ryan Blood (Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro) won the
individual crown, leading six LHU runners to 2004 All-PSAC
Team honors. Russell brings his top seven to this
weekend’s meet, with Blood, Chris Cowan (Horseheads,
N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) Billy Buckenmeyer
(Alexander, N.Y./Alexander Central), Joe Wiegner
(Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock), Greg Davis
(Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia), Shawn Moore
(Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) and Chris Robson
(Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) all making the trip to IUP.
Russell’s women’s team has battled injury and taken its
fair share of lumps, but the talent is there to make
some noise at this NCAA meet. The team’s top runner all
season, Kat Davey (Springfield, Pa./Springfield)
stumbled at the PSAC meet, finishing a disappointing 69th.
Davey and the rest of the Lady Eagles will look for
revenge this weekend. Joining her at the NCAA East
Regional are top LHU PSAC finisher Sarah Robertson
(Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg), April Salinas
(Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain), Ashley Arnold
(Hanover, Pa./South Western), Shelly Coupland
(Scranton, Pa./Scranton), Leigh Miller (St.
Thomas, Pa./James Buchanan) and Missy Weaver
(Denver, Pa./Garden Spot).
