Men’s Cross Country Brings Home Awards

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– With the 2004 season already producing the crowning
achievements of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
(PSAC) title and an NCAA East Region trophy, the Lock
Haven University men’s cross country team added a pair
of PSAC awards and a United States
Cross Country Association (USCCA) trophy to their list of accolades today.
Head coach
Aaron Russell won
both the
USCCA East Region and PSAC Men’s Coach of the Year
titles, and
Greg Davis
(Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) was awarded
Rookie of the Year.
Davis had a breakout
freshman season, culminating with a 71st-place finish at
the NCAA Championships, finishing the 10k course in
34:24.
Russell guided a squad
that finished ninth at the national meet, the best in
the history of the Lock Haven cross country program,
bettering their previous mark of 13th in
1999. LHU brought home two All-America trophies giving
it a total of seven. 2004 was one of the best seasons in
LHU history, earning five team titles and school-records
with six all-conference and five all-region runners.
