Men's Cross Country Finishes
Ninth at NCAAs

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The No. 7 Lock Haven University men’s cross country team earned their
highest-ever finish, placing ninth at the Division II
National Championships, hosted by the University of
Southern Indiana. Senior Chris Cowan (Horseheads,
N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) led the team, earning
All-America status in 29th place, the second
honor of his career.
Cowan finished the 10k
course in 33:12, and senior Joe Wiegner (Ivyland,
Pa./Council Rock) finished 34th in 33:19,
giving LHU two All-Americans in 2004.
Sophomore Ryan Blood
(Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro) came across in
33:48, good for 48th place, freshman Greg
Davis (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) finished 71st
in 34:24 and junior Billy Buckenmeyer (Alexander,
N.Y./Alexander Central) finished 74th in
34:26 to round out the scoring for Lock Haven.
The ninth-place finish
was the best in the history of the Lock Haven cross
country program, bettering their previous mark of 13th
in 1999. The two All-America trophies give the Bald
Eagle program a total of seven. The national meet wraps
up one of the best seasons in LHU history, earning five
team titles and school-records with six all-conference
and five all-region runners.
