Haven Men
Win, Women Take Third at Maroon and Gold Invite
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock
Haven University men’s cross country team captured the team title at the
Maroon and Gold Invite hosted by Kutztown University. The Bald Eagles were
paced by individual men’s winner Ryan
Blood (Summerdale/East Pennsboro). The women fared nearly as well,
placing third overall.
The Haven harriers took
nine of the first 11 spots, led by Blood with a time of 26:00 even on the 8k
course. By placing nine in the top 11, the men collected 23 points. Placing
fourth was Chris Robson (Lewisberry,
Pa./Red Land) with a time of 26:32, along with senior
Billy Buckenmeyer (Alexander,
N.Y./Alexander Central) who was fifth also with a time of 26:32. In
sixth place was junior Aaron Benson (Mt.
Jewett, Pa./Kane Area) in 26:54, followed by seventh place
Cory Spidell (Home, Pa./Marion Center)
in 27:04.
The Lady Eagles scored 73
points en route to their third place finish, and were paced by senior
Holly Bofinger (Warminster,
Pa./William Tennent), who finished seventh with a time of 24:36.
Fellow senior Sarah Robertson
(Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) followed right behind in eighth
with a time of 24:37. Freshman
Alyssa Douma (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) took the 6K course
with a time 25:24, finishing 15th. Rebekah
Schrader (Wysox, Pa./Towanda) came home in 16th in 25:26, followed
by Leigh Miller (St. Thomas, Pa./James
Buchanan) in 27th place with a time of 26:16.
“All the teams looked
strong today,” commented head coach Aaron
Russell. “Everyone worked well together at a team which is what we
wanted to focus on. It was good to see everyone work well with each other.”
The Haven will be back
kicking up some dust next weekend, Sept. 17, when they host the LHU Invite
on the West Branch Cross Country Course. The starter gun will fire at 11
a.m.
