Stewartz Chosen as NEC Scholar-Athlete

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior field hockey player Katie Stewartz (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) has been named the Valley National Bank Northeast Conference (NEC) Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete, the conference office announced today. The award recognizes the top student-athlete in each of the NEC’s participant sports for their accomplishments both on and off the field.

Stewartz was tabbed to the all-NEC first team after she helped propel Lock Haven to the NEC regular season crown in the school’s first year as an associate member of the conference. The team captain tallied three goals and ranked third in the conference with eight assists as the Lady Eagles finished with a perfect 8-0 record in league play and were 19-1 overall in their initial Division I campaign.

Stewartz was also named NEC Player of the Week on October 11. A three-time NFHCA National Academic Squad member, Stewartz has posted a 3.81 grade point average as a health and physical education major.
