(Waltham, Mass. ) - A big second half lifted the Lady Eagle field hockey team (4-0) to its fourth straight win in Division I, defeating Radford University, 5-0, in the final game at the Boston College Tournament.  Haven scoring was paced by two goals from Rebecca Steffen (Hawley/Wallenpaupack) and a goal and two assists from Nikki Sweger (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East).
Both teams combined for only four shots in the first half, each squad attempting a pair without success. Out of the intermission with new resolve, the Lady Eagles’ Steffen would finally notch the game’s first goal in the 48th minute.  A goal by freshman Sam Stoyer (Lititz/Manheim Township) quickly followed to up the score to 2-0 in LHU’s favor.
The offensive onslaught continued throughout the remainder of the half, as the Lady Eagles would send a total of 12 shots at the goal during the span. Steffen was able to beat the keeper again for the third goal. Sweger added the fourth and Sarah Huber (Plymouth Meeting/Christopher Dock) posted one more before the close of the game for the 5-0 victory.
Melissa Stubblefield (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) came up with her second straight shutout victory, posting two saves in the contest. Radford’s Amy Dietz came up with five saves while allowing four goals, and backup Stacy Saunders let in one goal during her time on the field.
Lock Haven, now 4-0, will be at Villanova University on Tues., Sept. 7, for a 7 p.m. contest.
