LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Senior Kellie Kulina
(Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) increased her team-best
goals total to six as the Lock Haven University field
hockey team (7-0) downed the University at Albany Great
Danes (2-5), 4-0 today at Charlotte Smith Field. It was
the second shutout in a row for the Lady Eagles.
The
scoring started in spectacular fashion at the 26:27 mark
in the first half, as sophomore Nicole Dearden
(East Greenville/Quakertown Community) made a pass from
nearly 20 yards out that fellow sophomore Mandy
Daschbach (Telford/Christopher Dock) tipped in for
the game-winner, her first of the year.
Junior Rebecca Steffen (Hawley/Wallenpaupack
Area) notched her third goal just under 10 minutes into
the second period, and Kulina added both of her goals in
the second half, an unassisted shot and a designed
penalty corner.
Senior Melissa Stubblefield (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel)
made two saves for her third shutout and seventh win.
Albany goalkeeper Barbara Czaplinski made eight saves in
12 tries to fall to 2-3.
Kulina, Dearden, Daschbach, Steffen, Stubblefield and
the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action against
Colgate University as part of the LHU Tournament at
