LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (9-1, 1-0 NEC) began Northeast Conference play today, dominating Robert Morris University (0-6, 0-2 NEC) 9-0 at Charlotte Smith Field. Senior Kellie Kulina’s (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) two goals led the way for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagle scoring attack controlled the game, backed up by a defensive line that did not allow a single Colonial shot.

LHU wasted little time scoring on the winless Colonials, as Kulina lifted a breakaway chip-shot over RMU goalkeeper Kate Dunlap’s head just over five minutes into the game.

Seven other Lady Eagles joined the scoring parade, including Nikki Sweger (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) notching her sixth of the season and 37th of her career, pushing her into a three-way tie for 10th in school history. Rachel Groft (Abbotstown/New Oxford) and Jennifer Churetta (Northampton/Northampton Area) each added their first goals of the season.

Senior Melissa Stubblefield (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) improves to 8-1 on the season and Dunlap falls to 0-6.

Kulina, Sweger, Groft, Churetta, Stubblefield and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action Sunday, Sept. 26 at noon at Georgetown University.
