Field Hockey Slides Past Siena, 2-1

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Lock Haven University field hockey (15-1, 5-0 NEC) offensive attack pounded out 43 shots en route to another Northeast Conference victory at Siena College (3-9, 2-3 NEC), 2-1 today. The Lady Eagles out shot the Saints 43-2 to remain undefeated in their first year of NEC play.

All of the scoring took place in the second half. Nearly 17 minutes past halftime, sophomore Mandy Daschbach (Telford/Christopher Dock) took a pass from senior Nikki Sweger (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) and beat goalkeeper Kristen Heyde for Dashbach’s fourth goal of the season.

Kellie Kulina (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) followed 14 minutes later with a strike of her own off a penalty corner, her team-high 11th of the year and the eventual game-winner.

Traci Baldwin ended the shutout bid with less than half a minute left to make the final 2-1 tally.

LHU goalkeeper Melissa Stubblefield (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) made one save in the victory and Heyde made 16 saves to take the loss.

Daschbach, Sweger, Kulina, Stubblefield and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. as they host Rider University.
