– The Lock
Haven University field hockey team (19-1, 8-0 NEC) finished their season
in typical LHU dominating style, out-shooting Lafayette College (4-13,
1-4 Patriot) 24-2 to get the 2-1 win tonight. Sophomore Mandy
Daschbach (Telford, Pa./Christopher Dock) hit the game-winning goal
for the Haven.
A
pair All-Northeast Conference First Team members, Courtney Hughes
(Schwenksville, Pa./Souderton)
and Kellie Kulina (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) teamed up on
the first goal, with Kulina hitting Hughes off a penalty corner.
Daschbach added her unassisted strike before halftime to give LHU the
2-0 lead. Amanda Eggleston cut the lead in half for the Leopards, but
the Lady Eagles held on for the win.
Lady
Eagle goalkeeper Melissa Stubblefield (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel)
earned her 17th win of the season, with Jill Lambert making
eight saves in the loss.
The Lady Eagles are ineligible for NCAA tournament play until the 2006
season, but have declared eligibility for the Eastern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Championship Tournament
