Stroudsburg WEEK TEN
WEEK NINE
SHIPPENSBURG GRIDDERS UPEND LOCK HAVEN BALD EAGLES (Lock Haven, Pa.) ~ The Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania Red Raiders (7-2, 3-1) defeated the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania Bald Eagles (2-7, 0-4) by a final margin of 68-7 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division matchup. The Red Raiders took Hubert Jack Stadium by storm, firing back for 68 points, including a stunning eight successive drives for touchdowns, after The Haven jumped onto the scoreboard early to take its only lead of the game at 7-0. The Bald Eagles came out to open the game spirited, stopping Shippensburg's first drive at the Red Raider's 20-yardline. On the ensuing drive, Lock Haven worked its way up the field, and quarterback Ed Galiczynski opted for the four-yard sneak into the endzone for the score. Matt Mapes made good on the point after to give The Haven a 7-0 advantage. But that was where the good fortune of the Bald Eagles stopped short, as Shippensburg would answer with 68 straight points, 54 marks on eight consecutive drives from the first through the third frames, to strangle the short-lived momentum. Red Raider fullback Jeremy Brubaker posted three touchdowns, two in the second quarter and one to wrap up the game in the fourth, on runs of four, five, and two-yards, respectively. Shipp signal caller Chris Gicking recorded three touchdown passes, completing ariels to Mike Erlandson (33-yds), Melvin Scott (28-yds), and Jamie Ware (48-yds). Before the close of the half, Haven turnovers ended three drives, including a Bald Eagle push to deep within Shippensburg territory to the 12-yardline, culminating in a fumble by Galiczynski. That dropped ball was picked up and returned for a touchdown (82-yard return) by Shipp defensive back Tony Green with just under six minutes remaining in the second quarter. Two more defensive plays led directly to Red Raider scores in the third stanza. Kareem Osborne picked off a pass from Ed Galiczynksi and carted the ball back 35-yards for the touchdown. Shippensburg turned over the ball on downs to the Bald Eagles on the next drive following a bad snap on a field goal attempt from 45-yards out. Lock Haven would get no reprieve though, as a fumble on the Haven punt return was recovered by Eric Ranieri, who recorded a 15-yard scamper into The Haven endzone for the ninth Shipp score of the afternoon. Brubaker closed out Shippensburg scoring just over eight minutes into the final frame, capping a seven play, 57-yard drive with a two-yard dash in for his third score of the contest. The balanced attack of the Red Raiders had three players with 40 yards or more rushing (Ryan Hartley-43 yards, Nathan Robinson-41 yards, 1 TD, Omar Gonzales-40 yards). Brubaker notched three touchdowns on 29-yards rushing. Quarterback Chris Gicking was 10-for-16 with three touchdowns and 238 yards. In the air, conference-leading receiver Jamie Ware posted 82 yards and one touchdown (48-yard pass from Gicking), and Mike Erlandson had 75 yards and one score. Defensive leaders for the Red Raiders include Josh Goodman, Jeff Hannum, and Joe Waslylk, all with seven tackles apiece. Waslylk also recorded one sack for minus six yards. Kareem Osborne tallied six tackles, including three for loss (-17 yards) and one interception with a 35-yard return for touchdown. Lock Haven was led by tailback Jamie Allen, who gained 76 yards on 20 carries for the day. Quarterback Ed Galiczynski was 12-for-21 (three interceptions) for 109 yards. He connected with tight end Jason Kundtz for five receptions for 48 yards. Defensively, The Haven's Jon McFarland notched 10 tackles (seven unassisted). Linebacker Chad Koleno had eight stops, and corner back Angelo Moultair tallied six tackles, including one for loss (-7 yards), and three pass breakups. Shippensburg University, 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC West, will host California (Pa.) University next Saturday, November 6, at 1 p.m. Lock Haven University is now 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the PSAC West, and will travel to Clarion University next Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest. ###
WEEK EIGHT
** first time since the 1983
season that the Bald Eagles have shutout a team (1983, LHU 17, New Haven 0)
WEEK SEVEN
(Lock Haven, PA) ~ The Edinboro University of Pennsylvania Fighting Scots (3-4, 2-1 PSAC West) defeated the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania Bald Eagles (1-6, 0-3 PSAC West) by the final margin of 38-7, extending their winning streak over The Haven to 18 straight games. Edinboro's junior tailback Bernard Henry did more than his fair share to give the Fighting Scots their third victory of the season, recording his fifth contest over the 100-yards rushing mark. Posting 133 yards on 14 carries, Henry crossed into the endzone twice on runs of 23 and 43 yards. Turnovers and a strong performance by the Fighting Scot defense held the Lock Haven offensive game in check, limiting the Bald Eagles to just 152 net yards (44 rushing, 108 passing), while EUP put up 418 yards of its own sparked by the performance of Henry. Edinboro posted 31 unanswered points through the first three quarters of the contest. Henry scored on a 23-yard scamper, and freshman kicker Sean McNicholas made good on a 27-yard field goal to get things rolling in the first stanza. Henry took charge once more in the second frame, dodging LHU defenders before making his way into the endzone for a 43-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, bringing the score at the half to 17-0. Edinboro tailback Stephane Lubin, recently moved over to offense after playing at cornerback, converted a six-yard run into a score to open the third quarter of action. On the following drive, redshirt-freshman signal caller Jack Davis found tight end Rob Barney open for an 11-yard touchdown pass. Late in the third frame, as the Bald Eagles attempted to punt the ball safely away from their endzone, a bad snap went out of the grasp of punter Jason Mummau, and bounced into the Lock Haven endzone, where EUP safety Chris Kane gained possession for the recovery and the score. For the Bald Eagles, short yardage gains limited them to minimal yardage gains in the third quarter, as they were unable to advance the ball into Fighting Scot territory. In the fourth quarter, The Haven rallied to end its opening drive with the only score of the day as quarterback Ed Galiczynski connected with Jason Kundtz for a 14-yard touchdown reception (Matt Mapes PAT good). That touchdown capped off a 15 play, 68-yard drive spanning 7:21 after numerous penalties on both sides of the ball. For the contest, Edinboro's Henry led all rushers with 133 yards (14 carries) and two touchdowns. Lubin posted 78 yards on the ground (11 carries), including his one touchdown. Quarterback Jack Davis closed out his second complete game of the season with 11-of-17 passing for 115 yards and one touchdown. Rob Barney led Boro receivers with 68 yards (six receptions) and one touchdown. Lock Haven was led by junior tailback Jamie Allen, who posted 81 yards (17 carries) on the run along with 11 receiving yards (two receptions). Galiczynski was 11-of-23 on the evening with 99 total yards and one touchdown. On the receiving end, Jason Kundtz recorded 58 yards on three receptions with one touchdown. Defensively, the Fighting Scots had a number of players posting big numbers, including linebacker Dave Holton with seven tackles (five unassisted), including two for loss (-22 yards) and a half-sack (-10 yards). End Shawn Harris tallied four tackles (four solo) with three sacks (-21 yards). Strong safety Lou Mitchell added three pass breakups to the win. For the Bald Eagles, linebacker Chris Hileman and free safety Ryan Matheson both notched eight tackles apiece, and Matheson added one pass breakup. Edinboro, now 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC Western Division, travel to California (Pa.) University next Saturday, October 23. Lock Haven, with an overall record of 1-6 and 0-3 in the PSAC West, also hits the road for a contest at Mansfield University. ### WEEK SIX
WEEK FIVE
(LOCK HAVEN, PA) - No. 12-ranked Indiana University of Pennsylvania (3-1, 1-0 PSAC West) defeated Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania (1-4, 0-1 PSAC West) in a 27-9 battle in what was the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division opener for both squads. IUP's rushing duo of Aamir Dew and Terrance Wilson, powered its way through the Lock Haven defense for 189 and 105-yards, respectively, to lead the squad. It was the third straight game the pair had each recorded over 100-yards, and Wilson's fourth game rushing over the century mark. Indiana and Lock Haven traded possessions through the first quarter until just under four minutes remained, as Indiana's Aamir Dew broke into the endzone on a 65-yard dash. Into the second frame, a 29-yard field goal by LHU's Matt Mapes brought the score to 7-3, still in favor of the Indians. But Indiana widened the gap to 20-3 before the close of the half, as kicker Jeremy Boland sent the ball through the uprights for a pair of field goals (25 and 23-yards). Freshman quarterback Brian Eyerman added a touchdown, opting to run the ball himself in for the score from the one-yard line. In the second half, Lock Haven held the Indians scoreless until the final minutes of the game, putting up six points of its own on a two-yard touchdown run by Jamie Allen in the third frame, bringing the margin to 9-20. However, Indiana would find the endzone again with three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to wrap up the win, as Tim Buffone picked off a pass from Haven quarterback Ed Galiczynski at the Lock Haven six-yardline and returned it for the score. For the game, Indiana recorded 376-yards though hampered by penalties (10 for 103-yards). Lock Haven posted 294-yards, registering almost even yardage rushing (150) and passing (144). Dew (17 carries, 189 yards, 1 TD) and Wilson (15 carries, 105 yards) led the IUP offense. Eyerman tallied 11 completions on 20 attempts (2 interceptions) for 115-yards, along with a touchdown rushing (one yard). Receiver Mike Howard hauled in four passes for a total 89-yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Joe Walker posted five tackles (5 solo), with four for loss (-40 yards) and three sacks (-28 yards). Jermaine Ballard recorded eight tackles (7 solo), and Angelo Moultair notched six tackles (5 solo), one tackle for loss, a fumble recovery, and one pass breakup. In the drawn-out battle lasting just under four hours, the Bald Eagles emerged with the win led by kicker Matt Mapes, quarterback Ed Galiczynski, and receiver Matt Kerstetter. Mapes set a new school record for field goals in a season, hitting three today (34, 38, 42-yards) to up his 1999 total to eight, surpassing Rich Marriott's seven in the 1989 campaign. Mapes also recorded six good extra-point attempts to post 15 of Lock Haven's 53 points. Galiczynski tallied three touchdown passes in the second quarter on three straight LHU drives. Kerstetter led all receivers with 171-yards on just four catches, including an 82-yarder for a touchdown from backup quarterback Brian Genis in the third quarter. For the game, the Cheyney Wolves actually outgained the Bald Eagles in both rushing and passing yardage, but fell victim to 12 penalties (-106 yards), putting a damper on their chances of converting. Lock Haven was also penalized, having to overcome seven penalties for an overall loss of 92 yards. Lock Haven set the tone of the game, getting on the scoreboard first with a 34-yard field goal by Matt Mapes. On Cheyney's ensuing drive, the Wolves were forced to punt, and a blocked kick by LHU's Jason Kundtz sent the ball into the Cheyney endzone to give the Bald Eagles two more points with the safety. The Wolves first got on the scoreboard after a Lock Haven fumble at the Cheyney 11-yardline led to a recovery by Glen Erby, who took the ball the distance of the field. Another LHU turnover on its next drive led directly to six more points and the 12-5 lead for the Wolves, as Andrew Horne recovered the loose ball in the Lock Haven endzone. That would be the only lead for the Wolves, as the Bald Eagles went on a 48-point run, including a 28-point second frame to seal the win. A Cheyney come-back attempt posted 14 points in the final six minutes of the ball game, but the effort was too little to make up the margin, as The Haven took the win, 53-26. Leading the Bald Eagles was quarterback Ed Galiczynski (155-yards, 18-9-0, 3 touchdowns) and receiver Matt Kerstetter, who hauled in a career best 171-yards on four receptions for two touchdowns. On the ground, Jamie Allen led LHU with 64-yards and two touchdowns, and Jason Mummau chipped in with 43-yards. Kicker Matt Mapes made good on three field goal attempts and six point after attempts. For Cheyney, quarterback Ameer Hayes posted a game high of 228-yards (38-22-3), and also recorded a one-yard touchdown run. The Wolves' receiving corps was led by Randolph Sanders (80-yards) and John Chestnut (79-yards, 1 TD). On the rush, Keynard Edouard led Cheyney with 95-yards. Defensively, The Haven unit, which posted six sacks, was led by Chad Koleno (7 tackles, FR, INT, 1 sack) and Pat Nixon (5 tackles, 2 TFL, 1.5 sacks). The Wolves defense was highlighted by play from Wes Settles (7 tackles, 2 TFL), and Glen Erby (5 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 FR). Lock Haven opens PSAC-West competition next week, hosting Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 2, at 7 p.m. Cheyney returns home to host California University of Pennsylvania on that same Saturday in a 1 p.m. contest. ### WEEK THREE
BLOOMSBURG HUSKIES VICTORIOUS OVER LOCK HAVEN BALD EAGLES, 44-24 (LOCK HAVEN, PA) ~ The Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania Huskies (2-1) routed the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania Bald Eagles (0-3), 44-24, in Saturday night's contest held at LHU's Hubert Jack Stadium. The Huskie lineup turned out four 100-yard performers. The trio of centurions was led by sophomore running back Arrastene Henry, who piled up 149-yards on 18 carries, including a 57-yard rush to set up Bloom's third touchdown of the game. Fellow teammate tailback Steve Eichert rushed for another 100-yard-plus game, posting 121yards on 19 carries. On the receiving end, junior wide receiver Mike Lelko posted a game-high of three touchdown catches for a total 117-yards on eight receptions. Finally, quarterback Eric Miller landed 13 passes for 184-yards and four touchdowns. It was Lock Haven that scored first, putting three points on the scoreboard with a good Matt Mapes 42-yard field goal. Bloomsburg answered with two touchdowns via the ariel from Eric Miller to Lelko and Matt Wilson, and one on the ground with a one-yard scamper by Marques Glaze. The Bald Eagles fought back with an eight-yard TD pass from LHU signal caller Ed Galiczynski to senior tight end Jason Kundtz. At the half, it was the Huskies with a comfortable 20-10 lead over The Haven. Bloomsburg recorded nine points in the third (Tom Boop 24-yard field goal; Mike Lelko 5-yard pass from Miller) to Lock Haven's seven (Jamie Allen 5-yard run) to up the margin to 29-17. Another big quarter for the Huskies in the final period of play would seal the victory. Lock Haven posted their final points of the game early in the fourth quarter, as Galiczynski connected with senior receiver Matt Kerstetter for a 15-yard touchdown reception, drawing the score closer, 24-29. But Bloomsburg pulled away, as Miller found Lelko in the endzone again for an 18-yard score, and fullback Jamison McLaughlin worked his way through the LHU defense for a five-yard TD run. Lock Haven was unable to make up the difference in the final minute, getting as close as the Bloomsburg 25-yard line in the final seconds before penalties stopped its forward advance. The final score stood at 44-24 in favor of the Huskies. Statistical leaders for the Huskies included Henry (149-yds rushing; 18 carries), Eichert (121-yds rushing - 19 carries), and Lelko (117-yds receiving; 8 carries; 3 TDs). Quarterback Miller posted 184-yards and four TDs (21-13-1). For the Bald Eagles, A.J. Anderson posted 104-yards rushing (12 carries), and Allen notched 89-yards (17 carries). Defensively, the Huskies were led by back Keith Freeman (9 tackles/9 solo; 1 INT) and linebacker Jeremiah Dyer (9 tackles/6 solo). Safety Trent Flick tallied seven tackles (five solo) and one interception (0 yards). For Lock Haven, outside linebacker Jon McFarland posted eight tackles, all unassisted, and also had one for loss (five yards). Cornerback Thomas Gordy and linebacker Chad Koleno both recorded seven tackles. Bloomsburg will travel to Indiana University of Pennsylvania next Saturday for a 7 p.m. contest, and the Lock Haven Bald Eagles remain at home to challenge Cheyney University of Pennsylvania with a 2 p.m. start. ### WEEK TWO
(KUTZTOWN, PA/Josh Leiboff, SID) Yorel Prosser rushed for three touchdowns and Josh Warren passed for 300 yards to lead the Kutztown University Football team to a 37-7 victory over Lock Haven in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) inter-divisional matchup Saturday. Prosser gained 71 of his yards in the first half as KU built a 21-0 halftime advantage. Prossers first touchdown came on KUs first possession with 9:23 left in the first quarter. A bad long snap on fourth down for Lock Haven gave Kutztown the ball at the LHU 33. Prosser scored six plays later from nine yards out. Lock Havens special teams woes continued later in the first quarter, when Mike de Marteleire returned a Bald Eagle punt 47 yards for a touchdown with 2:20 left. In the second quarter, Kutztown again capitalized on a Bald Eagle miscue, this time a fumble by Jamie Allen on his own 27 yardline. Prosser scored from 13 yards out four plays later. KU began the second half with a 14-play, 67 yard drive that ended with a 31-yard field goal by Duane Werley to made the score 24-0. KUs longest drive of the day bridged the third and fourth quarters. A 40-yard pass from Warren to Mike de Marteleire set up Prossers third score, a five yarder with 12:54 left in the game. The drive was nine plays for 79 yards. Lock Haven avoided the shutout late in the fourth quarter when quarterback Ed Galiczynski guided the Bald Eagles on a 14-play, 80 yard drive. Galiczynski scored on an eight-yard scramble to make it 31-7. The Golden Bears completed the scoring on a one-yard run by Keith Crowell with 23 seconds left. The PAT failed. Kutztown tallied 520 yards of total offense, its fourth-highest output of the decade, one yard shy of last years 521 total against Lock Haven. Warren completed 21-of-33 passes. He found Terry Robertson 12 times for 188 yards. De Marteleire, the 1998 PSAC East Rookie of the Year as a quarterback and now a receiver, caught eight passes for 106 yards and returned three punts for 61 yards. WEEK ONE
(LOCK HAVEN, PA -- The East Stroudsburg Warriors survived a dual to the end, outlasting the Lock Haven Bald Eagles for the final 28-24 margin in the Thursday evening contest at Hubert Jack Stadium in Lock Haven, PA. It was the season-opener for both squads. The Haven had the advantage in the statistics, putting up nearly 100-yards more than the visiting Warriors, notching 456-yards (249 rushing/207 passing) to ESU's 362-yards (142 rushing/220 passing). Senior wide receiver Jason Klush collected three scores for 18 of the Warriors' 28 points, including the game-winning nine-yard touchdown reception from QB Steve Bellosi with just 2:18 minutes left on the game clock. Lock Haven took the game's initial advantage, going up 6-0, as Jamie Allen crossed into the endzone on just the Bald Eagles' second play from scrimmage at 14:11. Allen accounted for half of LHU's points, also sneaking into the endzone for a score with 3:41 left in the second quarter. Allen accumulated 237-yards (151-yards rushing), enough to send him over the 1,000-yard career mark, now with 1,101 career rushing yards. It took East Stroudsburg until the second quarter to get on the board, however they did so in high fashion, as junior tailback Stewart Ford (95-yards rushing) notched a 10-yard run for a touchdown just under six minutes into the second period of play. With the score at 7-15 in favor of The Haven with 0:51 left before the half, Klush snagged a 40-yard pass from sophomore QB Jeremy Palm (201-yards passing) to tie the game going into the lockerrooms. Klush maintained his momentum after the half, as he was on the receiving end of another pass from Palm to give East Stroudsburg their first lead of the contest, 21-15. Lock Haven fought back with force, as junior kicker Matt Mapes was on target for three straight field goals from distances of 33, 42, and 30-yards to help the Bald Eagles regain the lead and go up 24-21 by the 10:11 mark in the final quarter. Mapes had also recorded a good kick from 39-yards in the first quarter, contributing the other half of the Haven's point total with 12 points. An East Stroudsburg fumble with 8:00 minutes remaining in the contest gave Lock Haven possession of the ball at its own 25-yard line. The tough coverage of the ESU defense stopped running back Allen from gaining any significant yardage. Combined with a penalty, the Warrior defense also kept the Bald Eagles from advancing past their own 23-yard line, and gave The Haven no decision but to punt. Alternating running plays saw Ford and senior tailback Andre Myers sharing duties to get the Warriors all the way to the LHU nine-yard line, setting up a completion from Steve Bellosi to Klush to take back the lead of the game, 28-24. The Lock Haven offense was unable to close the gap, advancing to the ESU 35-yardline before a pass from LHU quarterback Ed Galiczynski (207-yards passing) was intercepted by Warriors' senior safety Greg Bowman at 2:05 to seal the 28-24 victory for East Stroudsburg. ESU senior linebacker Kevin Nagle led the Warrior defense, gathering 11 tackles (11 solo) and one sack. On the other side of the field, Lock Haven's Joe Walker, a sophomore defensive end, posted big numbers as well, totaling seven tackles (seven solo), including four tackles for loss and a game-high three sacks.

Game 10 - vs. Clarion University Lock Haven opened up a 28-0 first-half lead and held off Clarions strong second-half charge to win 35-28 in a battle of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division teams. Lock Haven opened up a 14-point lead with 1:34 remaining as Jeremy Burkett caught a 34-yard pass from Ed Galiczynski, but Clarion mounted a furious comeback in the final 90 seconds. Clarion took just two plays and 28 seconds to respond as Chris Weibel hit Alvin Slaughter on passes of 29 and 51 yards, the latter resulting in a score. Trailing by seven, the Golden Eagles Phil Rayford then recovered the ensuing on-side kick at midfield with 1:04 on the clock. With Weibel hooking up with Slaughter on passes of 17 and 11 yards, and a 13 yard-catch by Jamie Sickeri, Clarion eventually gained a first and goal at the Lock Haven five with under 20 seconds remaining. Following two incompletions, LHUs Angelo Moultair dragged Slaughter down on a screen pass and Clarion was unable to get off another play. Clarion was dominant in the second half, but the first half belonged to Lock Haven. The Bald Eagles opened up the scoring with 10:52 left in the first quarter on an 11-yard run by Jamie Allen. LHU gained good field possession on the drive when it picked off Weibel at the Clarion 49-yard line. Allen hit paydirt again seven minutes later, this time on a two-yard plunge. Allens touchdown capped off a 10-play, 97 yard drive, highlighted by a 58-yard catch by Burkett. Clarion seemed to have gained a shift in the momentum two series later, as it took over at the LHU 25-yard line following a 14-yard punt. However, after failing to gain a first down, Frank VanWerts 43-yard field goal was blocked and returned 70 yards for a touchdown by Jermaine Ballard. With only 17 seconds left, the Bald Eagles added their final score of the first half when Burkett snared a 19-yard strike. Clarion began its surge early in the second half, taking the opening drive down to the Lock Haven three-yard line. The Golden Eagles turned the ball over on downs, but regained possession after recovering an LHU fumble on the next play. Glenn Allen capitalized for the Golden Eagles with a three-yard rush for the score. The Golden Eagles scored on their next possession two possessions as well to bring them within seven. Their first drive was a 13-play, 78-yard march which culminated with a two-yard scoring run by Weibel. Slaughter then snared his first of his two scores, making several nifty moves on a 35-yard catch. The Golden Eagles fell short on the scoreboard despite outgaining their hosts 408-378 in total yardage. Lock Haven owned a 282-63 advantage in total yards during the first half, while Clarion won the second-half battle 345-96. Jamie Allen got things started for LHU, scoring on an 11-yard run just over four minutes into the contest. The touchdown capped off a three-play, 24-yard drive. The good field possession was the result of Jason Grassis fumble recovery, set up by a sack and forced fumble by Mark Williams. The Havens next score occurred nine minutes later when Ed Galiczynski hooked up with Jason Kundtz on a 12-yard TD strike. Allens 62-yard run proved to be the key play on the drive. Following a few exchanges, Allen struck again, finding the end zone from 13 yards away. Jeremy Burketts two-point conversion reception gave LHU its 21-point edge. Shipp finally got on the scoreboard with 3:40 remaining in the first half, but a missed extra-point attempt left the score at 21-6. The Bald Eagles took just two plays to respond, as Allen broke several tackles on his way toward the end zone on a 75-yard reception from Galiczynski. The Red Raiders closed out the first-half scoring, hitting paydirt on a five-yard pass play with just under 50 seconds remaining. The second half was all SU, as it scored the eventual game-winning TD with almost seven minutes left in the contest. Jonathan Miller added the next LHU strike, hitting on a 38-yard field goal with 3:16 remaining in the first period. After holding the Mountaineers on their next drive, LHU gained excellent field possession at the Mansfield 15-yard line with a 24-yard punt return by Jermaine Ballard and a 15-yard facemask penalty. Following a one-yard gain, David Secrisky scampered 14 yards on an end around to give LHU its biggest lead of the day. Mansfield capitalized on the ensuing kickoff, a failed on-side attempt by the Bald Eagles, by taking over at the LHU 45. The Mountaineers drove to the LHU 21 on runs of 11 and 13 yards by Chris Hudak and Lee Brannon, respectively, before settling for a 38-yard field goal by Tom ODonnnell. Mansfield made a strong charge to begin the third quarter, pulling to within seven on a one-yard run by Brannon. His score, which occurred at the 13:16 mark of the stanza, was set up by Hudaks 35-yard run to the LHU three. The Mountaineers, however, suffered a costly turnover just under nine minutes left in the third when Lee Brannon fumbled deep in their own territory. The Bald Eagles responded with 28-yard touchdown pass from Ed Galiczynski to Jason Kuntz, allowing them to gain what was ultimately the final 14-point cushion. Game 7 - at Edinboro University Bald Eagles Plagued by Miscues - Drop Contest at Edinboro Untimely errors on LHU's part played a major factor, as Edinboro upended the Bald Eagles 37-15. Things looked good for Lock Haven in the early going, as it took a 7-0 lead on a 53-yard scamper by Jamie Allen. The possession, LHU's first of the afternoon, covered 95 yards in eight plays, marking the team's longest scoring drive of the season. The Bald Eagles trailed only 14-7 at intermission, but Edinboro was able to capitalize on several LHU mistakes to hold a 23-8 advantage in the second frame. Edinboro drove 48 yards in seven plays to take a two-touchdown lead early in the third. On its next drive, Lock Haven fumbled in its own end zone and the ball was recovered by EU for a touchdown. The fumble came as a result of a sack, one of eight on the day for the Scots. Allen's 45-yard return on the following kickoff gave the Bald Eagles starting position near midfield. Boosted primarily by Allen's bursts of 11 and 17 yards, LHU drove to the EU three-yard line, facing a fourth-and-goal situation. Disaster struck again, though, as LHU's errant snap from the shotgun formation resulted in a 15-yard loss and a change of possession. Following a EU miscue, LHU gained possession at the Edinboro nine. LHU took advantage, eventually scoring on a one-yard plunge by Allen. Jason Kundtzs brilliant one-handed catch on the two-point conversion narrowed the gap to 30-15. The Bald Eagles, however, could not get any closer. cost them an opportunity to get into the game, as they fell 47-6 to the No. 2 team in the
nation. Following the ensuing kickoff, LHU put the ball on the turf on the 23-yard line on its first offensive play of the game. The costly mistake once again led to an Indiana touchdown. The Indians took advantage, hitting on a 51-yard pass play and a three-yard touchdown run to hold a 21-0 edge with 6:46 remaining in the first quarter. Indiana notched the only score of the third quarter, marking its last of the day. LHU got on the the scoreboard on the first play of the final quarter when Ed Galiczynski hooked up with favorite target Jeremy Burkett for an 80-yard scoring strike. A fumbled snap in the end zone on the punt attempt was recovered by Fabian Smart, marking the Bald Eagles fourth touchdown in under nine minutes. LHUs first score of the second half took place on a 28-yard run by Sean Fisher. Fishers scamper was set up by a 38-yard interception return by Jermaine Ballard.
