Lock Haven University '09

 

First season

 

Emily Wagner has been named the Graduate Assistant for the Lock Haven University Women’s Soccer team under new head coach Doug Moore. Wagner, who is a native of Brick, New Jersey, is a 2009 graduate of Lock Haven University.  She possesses a dual major in Athletic Training and Health and Physical Education.  

During her tenure at Lock Haven, Wagner has left her legacy as a three year starter in the goal by clinching multiple career records.  She currently holds the career record for most saves in the season at 331.  Wagner also ranks third in career shut-outs and fourth in career goals against average with 19 and .970, respectively.

In her 2007 campaign, Wagner tallied 123 saves on the season, which lies second in The Haven’s single-season record books.

Wagner’s work ethic and passion for soccer was evident during her career as she was name her team’s Most Improved Player in 2004.  She also received the Most Valuable Defensive Player in 2006 and the Most Valuable Player in 2007. 

Her accolades and accomplishments go beyond her success with her team.  Wagner was honored as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Player of the week three different times in her career.  In addition, she was selected to the All-PSAC West team in 2005 and 2007.

Prior to Lock Haven, Wagner coached, refereed, and supervised high school players at The Haven Soccer Academy in the summer of 2005 and 2008.  She was also a student assistant coach at her Alma Mater during the ‘08-‘09 year, in which she focused on training the goalkeepers in all facets of their game.  In 2009, Wagner was the volunteer coach at Brick Township High School.

Currently, Wagner still works for the Pennsylvania West Olympic Development Program to prepare middle and high school soccer players entering the ODP selection process.  Furthermore, she is a personal goalkeeper trainer in which she focuses on improving individuals’ technique, fitness level, and tactical ability between the goal posts.

Wagner is working toward the completion of the Master’s of Education program at Lock Haven.
