CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. – Lock Haven University lacrosse coach Kristen Selvage has been named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) President.
Selvage previously served as the Vice President of the IWLCA, and also as the Division II Vice President. She has been a member of the IWLCA Excutive Committee since 2005.
Already the winningest coach in LHU lacrosse history, Selvage is excited about her prestigious new role.
“The IWLCA is growing as the sport of lacrosse grows and the future of our collegiate game looks bright,” Selvage said.
“I am proud to serve as the president in this phase of lacrosse history. This is my chance to give back to the sport that has given me so much in life.”
The IWLCA represents the nation’s intercollegiate women’s lacrosse coaches that work at 300 universities and colleges. Collectively, these coaches supervise 6000 female student-athletes which compete within Division I, II & III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
The purpose of the IWLCA is to develop among intercollegiate coaches a deep sense of responsibility in teaching, promotion, and maintaining the growth of women’s lacrosse in accordance with the highest ideals of fair play.
In addition, the IWLCA strives to stimulate the development of quality leadership for women’s lacrosse programs by recognizing professional contributions to the sport and keeping members informed of current coaching techniques and trends. The association endeavors to identify and pursue issues relevant to women’s lacrosse coaches and to the sport of women’s lacrosse; and to provide a forum for the discussion of matters of interest to members of the Association.
The IWLCA promotes cooperative efforts with other professional organizations interested in the development of women’s lacrosse and women’s athletics in general.
