Amy Hordendorf tallied a pair of goals today for The Haven.

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey (1-0) was clicking on all cylinders as it cruised to victory in the 2008 season opener, downing Longwood University (0-1) 5-1 at Bucknell.

The Lady Eagles used a strong first half of play to roll past Longwood.

LHU posted four goals in the first half and struck early as they tallied their first goal in just the ninth minute of play.

Sophomore Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights), the reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the year picked up right where she left off in ’07 and led The Haven with a two-goal effort.

LHU’s other three goals came from Blair Wynne (Trinidad and Tobago/Sangre Grande), Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) and freshman Kristi Schepps (Willow Street, Pa./Penn Manor), who picked the first point of her Lady Eagle career.

Hobart led Lock Haven with a four-point performance as she also dished out a pair of assists.

Alanna Lewis (Trinidad and Tobago/Southeast Port of Spain) also had one assist in the win.

Sophomore goalie Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) played all 70 minutes in the cage, making three saves.

The Lady Eagles outshot Longwood 14-8.

Lock Haven is back in action tomorrow (Sunday, Aug. 31) at noon when it plays host No. 2 Maryland in the Lady Eagles home opener.
