SOMERSET, N.J. – Sophomore Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) of the Lock Haven University field hockey team (1-1) has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week for her recent efforts in leading the Lady Eagles during their season-opening win.
Lock Haven opened the 2008 season against Longwood University and came away with a solid 5-1 win.
Hordendorf was a big reason why, as she scored a team-high two goals in the win.
Hordendorf, the reigning NEC Rookie of the Year also got the start on Sunday against No. 2 Maryland and played well. Her start against the Terps marked the 14th of her young career.
In 2007 Hordendort scored 14 goals.
This is the first player of the week honor for the Lady Eagles in ’08.
