ERIE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (0-2, 0-1 PSAC West) fell to Gannon University (1-1, 1-0 PSAC West) 2-1 in a hard fought Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division match.

The Bald Eagles found themselves trailing 2-0 at halftime despite outshooting their hosts 13-6 in the first 45 minutes of play.

Lock Haven continued to battle in the second and finally drew within one in the 81st minute play.

Senior Paul Huckett (Grimsby, England/Grimsby College) drilled home a header after a cross in by Zach Miller (Girard, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep).

Lock Haven outshot Gannon 23-11 in 90 minutes, but couldn’t draw even as they pressed hard down the stretch dominating the flow of the match.

Billy Trimble (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) made two saves in 90 minutes of work.

Despite the loss LHU head coach Doug Moore was very pleased with his team’s effort today against a very quality opponent.

“I thought we played extremely well, we fought hard and it was a commendable performance,” Moore said.

Moore said his team dominated throughout and although disappointed in the loss, he felt his team showed a lot today and battled very hard.

Moore noted that the Bald Eagles really pressed in the second and just need to finish on their opportunities.

The Bald Eagles are back on the road on Friday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m. when they travel to Seton Hill University.
