LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team improved to a perfect 8-0 on the year after picking up two more victories today at the LHU Classic Volleyball tournament.
The Lady Eagles downed Elizabeth City State University and Southern Connecticut State University.
LHU won both matches 3-0 and has only dropped one game in eight matches on the season.
In match one of the day LHU downed Elizabeth City 3-0 (25-16, 25-17 & 25-16) thanks in large part to Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Austrailia/Gladstone), who led the team with 12 kills.
Senior Stacy Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) wasn’t far of the pace with a 10-kill effort. Borgia only had one error and hit a sizzling .562.
Fabianna Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de E.S.) once again led the team with 34 assists.
LHU took match number two of the day 3-0, downing Southern Connecticut 25-1, 25-20 and 25-16.
Leading the way was Christina Laury (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), who had 10 kills.
Lock Haven was on fire in game one and hit .667 to roll over Southern Connecticut setting the tone for the rest of the match.
Borgia and Naumann contributed nine and six kills, respectively.
Gomez had 32 assists, while Borgia also contributed three service aces.
Juliana Nascimento (Guarulhos, Brazil/Seward) had eight kills and hit .538.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. when they play host to Kutztown University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.
