Blair Wynne had a hat trick today including the game-winner in overtime.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-2) downed visiting Cornell University (1-2) 3-2 today in overtime thanks in large part to senior midfielder Blair Wynne (Trinidad and Tobago/Sangre Grande), who scored all three of the Lady Eagles goals, including the game-winner in overtime.

With the win LHU improves to 3-2 on the year and is 2-0 all-time vs. Cornell.

Lock Haven quickly found themselves in a hole as the visitors struck in just the fifth minute of play.

Lock Haven stilled trailed at half time and didn’t draw even until Blair scored the first of her three tallies in the 43rd minute.

Lock Haven’s first strike came directly off a penalty corner with Alanna Lewis (Trinidad and Tobago/Southeast Port of Spain) and Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) getting credit with assists.

Cornell wasn’t done yet and took the lead again in the 52nd minute.

Wynne struck again in the 68th minute of play after she drilled a ball to the back of the cage.

Regulation time ended with both teams deadlocked at 2-2.

Less than seven minutes into the overtime period Wynne broke away in toward the Cornell goal, where she had Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) flanking her to the left, setting up the two on one charge.

Wynne played a fantastic ball into Hordendorf, who slotted the ball back across the crease with the Cornell goalie charging her. Wynne dove to tap the ball home, lifting the Lady Eagles to victory.

Goalkeeper Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made five stops in 70 plus minutes of action.

The Lady Eagles return to action Sunday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. when they play host to Lafayette University.
