Bald Eagles win LHU Invitational, Lady Eagles take second

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams were both in action today at the LHU Invitational.

The Bald Eagles took home top honors as they won the team title with 20 points, downing nationally ranked Shippensburg University, who placed third.

LHU, ranked third in the NCAA Division II Atlantic region was first overall with 20 points, followed by East Stroudsburg with 58 and Shippensburg with 65.

Leading the way for The Haven men was sophomore Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasbury), who won the men’s race with a time of 26:24.20.

Getz was followed closely by fellow sophomore Nick Hitlon (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township), who took second overall, covering the 8K course in 26:24.59.

Brandon Pomerantz (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) capped off the 1-2-3 Haven finish,placing third with a time of 26:42.

The Bald Eagles put their top seven runners in the top 16-places.

The Lady Eagles took second overall with No. 15 Shippensburg taking home the women’s title.

Senior Shala Simms (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) and freshman Lindsey Lambert (Howell, N.J./Howell) went 3-4 overall with times of 23:01.82 and 23:06.48, respectively.

Alyssa Douma (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) was eighth overall, as she covered the 6K course in a time of 23:27.25.

Both teams are back in action next Friday, Sept. 19 at Monmouth Invite.
