DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (3-3-1) downed Mercy College (1-4) 2-1 today on the road.
It marks the second game in three days LHU played away in New York. With the win the Bald Eagles extend their win streak to four games. They’ve gone 3-0-1 after starting the year 0-3.
LHU went up 1-0 in the 19th minute after Drew Clemens (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) converted on a penalty kick.
Less than one minute later Mercy drew even tying the game at 1-1. The score would remain deadlocked at 1-1 going into halftime
In the 64th minute of play local product Paul Brungard (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) scored the first goal of his Lock Haven career.
A corner kick from Mark Auman (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) found the head of Brungard, who drilled it home for the game-winner.
LHU head coach Doug Moore was very pleased with his team’s effort today and credited some of his younger players for stepping it up, helping the team earn the crucial road victory.
