LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (13-0, 2-0 PSAC East) won 3-0 tonight at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.
With the win Lock Haven remains perfect, improving 13-0 on the year.
The Lady Eagles won 25-23, 25-20 and 25-13 improving to 2-0 in PSAC East action.
Stacey Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) and Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Austrailia/Gladstone) led the way offensively with 10 kills each. Borgia hit .500 while Naumann hit .368.
Juliana Nascimento (Guarulhos, Brazil/Seward County C.C.) was also strong offensively up front for The Haven knocking down nine kills, with just one error for a .421 hitting percentage.
Rookie Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) contributed six kills and hit an outstanding .600.
Defensively Christina Laury (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the way with seven digs. Borgia and Naumann each had five digs in the win.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de E.S) recorded a team-high 33 assists and also racked up five digs.
Nasimento and Borgia led LHU in blocking with three block assists apiece.
Borgia and Laury each had two aces.
LHU head coach Tom Justice was very pleased with the effort from his team tonight.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. when they take on Bloomfield College at Millersville University.
