Martin Pletz had two assists today for the Bald Eagles.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (3-4-1) dropped a hard fought home match today to New York Institute of Technology (4-1) 4-3.
The Bald Eagles looked to be in control early as they took a 3-1 lead in the 33rd minute, but NYIT came back to tie the game before halftime.
Lock Haven found themselves trailing as the visiting Bears struck early in the second half, scoring in the 52nd minute. That NYIT goal proved to be the game-winner.
It was LHU looking dominate in the early going.
Freshman Greg Shertzer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) put LHU up 1-0 in the just the 10th minute of play, as he buried a Martin Pletz (Pittsburgh/Carlynton) pass.
NYIT tied the match at 1-1 in the 23rd minute.
In the 31st minute Paul Huckett (Grimsby, England/Grimsby College) drilled home a rebound, putting LHU back in control.
Lock Haven continued to pound the NYIT defense early and went up 3-1 in the 33rd minute.
Pletz, again played a nice cross into Colin Callaghan (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby, who left little doubt, sliding the ball far post.
NYIT wasn’t done though and went on to strike four times.
Billy Trimble (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) made two saves in the match.
The Bald Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. when they travel to Shippensburg University.
