LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (4-3, 2-3 PSAC West) cruised past visiting Clarion University (1-4-2, 0-3-2 PSAC) 3-1 tonight at Hubert Jack Stadium in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
With the win the Lady Eagles extend their win streak to three games. In each of its last three games LHU has netted three goals and the Lady Eagles are outscoring their opponents 9-2 in the three victories.
Jessie Cox (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) put LHU up early blasting a shot off the goalies hands and into the upper corner from 35 yards out in the just the sixth minute play.
In the 15th minute of play freshman Brianna Orth (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) put the Lady Eagles up 2-0 as Lock Haven struck on another long blast. This time Orth collected the ball from about 30 yards and out and drilled it into the upper left corner.
Clarion would however cut into the lead, as it scored its only goal of the match in the 19th minute.
Orth scored her second goal of the contest in the 47th minute off a pass from Arielle Gordon (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata). Gordon played a ball to Orth left to right where the rookie tucked it far post.
The Lady Eagles defensive unit was very strong tonight as they got solid outings from up and down the lineup.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. when they host Kutztown University.
