LHU Cross Country

UPDATED: Cross country in action at Monmouth yesterday, Bald and Lady Eagles turn in strong showing
 

HOMDEL, N.J. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams were in action yesterday evening at the Monmouth University Invitational in Homdel Park.

Both the Bald and Lady Eagles turned in solid showings against a mostly Division I field.

The No. 24 ranked Bald Eagles took first place in the non-division I race with a perfect score of 15. They were also the overall team champion, downing Quinnipiac University, ranked No. 15 in the D-I Northeast Region.

LHU topped Quinnipiac by nine points.

The Lady Eagles took home the title in the non-division I race.

Leading the way for The Haven men was a pair sophomores coming in the forms of Nick Hitlon (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) and Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasbury). The pair covered the 8K course in 26:42 and 26:43, respectively.

Brandon Pomerantz (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) was ninth overall for LHU (27:01) and rookie Mitch Miller (Morrisville, NY/Morrisville-Eaton) placed 12th with a time of 27:07.

AJ Johnson (Coventry, Rhode Island/Coventry High School) and Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) rounded out the Bald Eagles top five.

On the women’s side LHU was led by freshman standout Lindsey Lambert (Howell, N.J./Howell), who placed 13th overall with a time of 19:26 (5K).

Shala Simms (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) was 18th overall with time of 19:47 and Alyssa Douma (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) was 25th (20:00).

Both teams are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. when they take part in the Pre-National meet hosted by Slippery Rock University, the host institution of the 2008 NCAA Division II National Championships.
