Lady Eagles shut down Bucknell

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (7-2) turned in another sensational outing this afternoon as the Lady Eagles shut out visiting Bucknell University (4-3) 4-0 today in non-conference action.

With the win LHU improves to 7-2 on the year and 4-1 at home.

The win also extends The Haven’s win streak to five games and the Lady Eagles improve to 31-4-3 all-time vs. Bucknell.

Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) led Lock Haven today, as the sophomore forward netted the hat trick.

Hordendorf struck early, scoring the first of her three goals just 1:25 into the match. All three of her strikes came in the first half of play.

Blair Wynne (Trinidad and Tobago/Sangre Grande) drilled home a penalty corner in 40th minute of play to put LHU up 4-0.

Sophomore goalie Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) was strong in the cage for LHU, turning away eight shots.

Lock Haven’s defensive unit was solid today, helping Terreson and the Lady Eagles preserve the shut out, which was LHU’s first of the 2008 season.

The Lady Eagles are back in action Saturday, Sept. 27 at noon when they travel to Fairfield University.
