WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (16-0, 4-0 PSAC East) downed West Chester University (12-3, 3-1) 3-0 tonight in a battle of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division unbeatens.
With the win the Lady Eagles improve to a perfect 16-0 and 4-0 in the PSAC East. WCU falls to 12-3 and 3-1 in the division.
Lock Haven’s win snapped a six-game West Chester winning streak.
LHU beat WCU 25-18, 25-15 and 25-22
Leading the way for LHU was senior Stacey Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), who had a team-high 15 kills while hitting a sensational .684. She also had team-highs in blocks and digs with seven and five, respectively.
Juliana Nascimento (Guarulhos, Brazil/Seward) was extremely solid for LHU tonight with an eight-kill effort. She only recorded one error and hit .388.
Freshman Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) had a team-high four aces.
Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Austrailia/Gladstone) contributed eight kills to help pace LHU.
Fabianna Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de E.S.) had 24 assists.
Lock Haven had 11 team blocks, which made LHU head coach Tom Justice very pleased.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Friday, Sept. 26 when they take part in the California (Pa.) University tournament.
