The Fighting Scots, playing their PSAC West opener, suffered their first loss of the season and are now 3-1 over all and 0-1 in the PSAC West. The Vulcans are 3-1 and 1-0, respectively.
The Fighting Scots appeared ripe to pull the upset despite falling behind 21-3 early in the second quarter. Playing the first night game ever at Sox Harrison Stadium in front of 7,213 fans, the largest crowd in years, Edinboro roared back to take a 31-28 lead. The Scots were undone by a dropped touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter, followed by the failure to convert on 4th-and-goal from the Cal 3.

Back came the Vulcans, needing just four plays to go 62 yards, with Brown scoring from four yards out. Another big play set up the score, as Williams burst 44 yards on the previous play to the four.
The Vulcans were back in scoring position moments later when Trevor Harris was intercepted by Terrence Johnson at the Cal 48. Edinboro took its first lead of the game on the opening drive of the third quarter, driving 74 yards on six plays. Harris and Cerro combined on a 24-yard completion to the 50 on the first play. Then Harris got into the act, running an option play to the left and sprinting into the end zone from 27 yards out to give Edinboro a 31-28 lead with 5:59 remaining in the period.
