LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (6-4-1) downed visiting West Chester University (4-4-2) 1-0 today, thanks to senior Paul Huckett (Grimsby, England/Grimsby College), who scored the game’s only goal.
Huckett scored his fourth goal of the season in the 78th minute of a hard-fought battle with the Golden Rams.
Lock Haven controlled the flow of match throughout and held the majority of the possession.
The Bald Eagles hard work paid off with just over 12 minutes to go in today’s physical contest, as Huckett found a ball coming across the goal mouth and he left little doubt, tucking it home.
Solid passing set up Huckett’s goal as Mark Auman (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) flicked a ball into the box, where Tommy Ehrlich (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) settled it down. Ehrlich made a quick turn and played the ball across to a streaking Huckett, who buried in the back of the net.
The Haven’s defensive unit was solid throughout.
LHU returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 4 p.m. when the Bald Eagles play host to Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
