CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (16-3) dropped two matches today at the California (Pa.) University tournament.
The Lady Eagles lost both matches 3-0.
Lock Haven started its day with a loss to Mercyhurst University 3-0 (25-21, 25-19 and 25-21).
Leading the way for LHU against Mercyhurst was Juliana Nascimento (Guarulhos, Brazil/Seward C.C.) and Stacey Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), who had 10 and nine kills respectively.
Borgia hit .350 over the three-game match and also recorded two aces.
Elizabeth Metzmaier (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) had six kills and no errors in 11 attempts, for team-high .454 kill percentage.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de. E.S.) tallied 32 assists.
The Lady Eagles fell in their second match of the day 3-0 to No. 13 California (Pa.) University (25-21, 25-19 and 25-13).
Leading the in the Cal match was Borgia, who had 10 kills while hitting .471. She also had a team-high nine digs.
Metzmaier and Nascimento both had five kills.
Gomez recorded 21 assists and four digs.
The Lady Eagles will look to rebound on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. when they welcome East Stroudsburg University to Thomas Fieldhouse for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.
