NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The state of Connecticut has been good to the Lock Haven University field hockey team (9-2) as the Lady Eagles picked up their second 2-1 win in as many days.
Much like yesterday, Lock Haven used some late-game fireworks to down Yale (2-5) 2-1 today in New Haven.
With the win LHU improves to 9-2 overall and extends its win streak to seven games.
Yesterday The Haven beat Fairfield University 2-1.
Despite outshooting their hosts 16-9 over 70 minutes of play, the score remained deadlocked at 0-0 after the opening half of play.
Yale got the board first; netting the go ahead goal in the 38th minute after Ashley McCauley found the back of the cage.
LHU would draw even in the 63rd minute as senior midfielder Blair Wynne (Trinidad and Tobago/Sangre Grande) drilled one home.
Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) would provide the excitement for the Lady Eagles as she scored the game-winner with just 1:19 left in regulation. Her goal was assisted by freshman Najia Hassan (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wyoming Seminary). The assist marks the first point for Hassan in crimson and white.
Goalkeeper Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) turned away six shots for LHU.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. when they play host to West Chester University.
