EDINBORO, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (18-3) defeated Indiana (Pa.) University 3-0 today at Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action.
The Lady Eagles won 25-13, 27-25 and 25-11.
The second game of the three-game match proved to be the most exciting.
LHU was forced to come from behind as The Haven went down 5-0 early. The Lady Eagles battled back and eventually game two was knotted at 17-17. It looked as if Lock Haven had put it away, leading 23-20, but again IUP fought back.
Leading the way tonight for LHU was Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Austrailia/Gladstone), who had a team-high 13 kills. She only committed three errors and hit .454 over the three games against IUP.
Stacey Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) racked up 11 kills and hit .400. She also had two block assists.
Juliana Nascimento (Guarulhos, Brazil/Seward) and Elizabeth Metzmaier (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) knocked down 10 and nine kills, respectively. Nascimento also had two solo blocks.
The Lady Eagles hit .384 as a team in the win.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de E.S) had 42 assists, two block assists and five digs.
Heidi Stine (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) had a team-high 14 digs.
Christina Laury (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) also had eight digs to help LHU defensively.
The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 4) at Edinboro in PSAC Crossover action.
