LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s field hockey team (10-2) extended its impressive win streak to eight games today after defeated visiting West Chester University (4-6) 3-0.
The Lady Eagles scored all three of their goals in the first half of play and used a strong defensive effort to earn their 10th win of the year.
With the win LHU improves to 10-2 overall and extends its win streak to eight games.
Leading the way for LHU was Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights), who had a team-high two goals.
The game was scoreless until the 21st minute as LHU went up 1-0, but less than six minutes later it was 3-0 as the Lady Eagles poured it on in a hurry.
Hordendorf’s first goal came just over 20 minutes in.
Freshman Kristi Shepps (Willow Street, Pa./ Penn Manor) put LHU up 2-0 in the 23rd minute just over two minutes after Hordendorf broke open the game’s scoring.
Hordendorf added her second strike in the 26th minute, providing all the scoring LHU would need to down the Golden Rams.
Sophomore goalie Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) was credited with three saves in the win.
Emma Wessner (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) played well on the defensive side of the ball for LHU.
The Lady Eagles return to action tomorrow at when they play host to No. 14 Penn State. Game time is set for 1 p.m. on LHU’s Charlotte Smith Field.
