LORETTO, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (11-3, 1-0 NEC) blanked St. Francis University (1-11, 0-1 NEC) 1-0 tonight on the road in the Northeast Conference (NEC) opener for both teams.
The match’s only goal game off the stick of sophomore Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) in the 65th minute of play.
Despite outshooting the hosts 11-3, LHU could only sneak one past SFU goalie Erin Reifsteck.
The match was tied 0-0 at halftime, but with less than six minutes to play in regulation, The Haven tallied the game winner.
Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) assisted on Hordendorf’s game-winning tally.
LHU goalie Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made two saves in the win.
With the win the Lady Eagles rebound from their 3-1 loss at home on Sunday to No. 13 Penn State.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Sunday (Oct. 12) when they return home to play host Robert Morris University at 1 p.m. in NEC action.
