LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (5-8, 2-7 PSAC West) was edged 1-0 by visiting Indiana (Pa.) University (9-4, 7-2 PSAC West) this afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

IUP netted the only goal of the match late in the first half after the Lady Eagles poured on the scoring changes early in the game.

Lock Haven held a 21-13 advantage in shots and outshot IUP 11-3 in the first half.

LHU took control of the match early and applied heavy pressure, but just couldn’t sneak the ball past IUP keeper Kelly Brennan.

Freshman Janine McCarthy (Jefferson, Mass./St. Peter Marian) had two fantastic chances to put The Haven up early, but her two headers just missed the net.

IUP finally broke open the tie, netting the eventual game-winner in the 38th minute of play. It was Ashley Moyer providing the game’s only strike.

Just before halftime defender Caitlyn Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./UMBC) pushed forward and sent a 26-yard blast just wide.

LHU goalkeeper Haley Zinn (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) played well between the pipes for LHU and was credited with seven saves.

LHU head coach Heather Davis was pleased with the team’s effort today. She was happy with how the team responded early saying it shows they can play with anybody.

The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. when they travel to California (Pa.) University for Western Division action.
