CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (7-8, 4-7 PSAC West) shutout California (Pa.) University 2-0 on the road today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.

The Lady Eagles went up 1-0 in the 39th minute after Kellie Wieger (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) set up freshman Carly D’Orsaneo (Elverson, Pa./Living Word Academy), who buried the ball home for the eventual game-winner.

Lock Haven took the 1-0 lead into halftime and padded their lead in the second.

Rookie Janine McCarthy (Jefferson, Mass./St. Peter Marian) scored off an assist from Alissa Gamelier (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley).

LHU head coach Heather Davis was very pleased with the team’s effort today, saying the team played terrific.

Davis was very pleased with the play of rookie goalie Haley Zinn (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing), who kept LHU in the game early. She made 12 saves in the win.

Davis also noted the a strong effort from her backline led by Caitlyn Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./UMBC).

Senior captain Lindsey Blessing (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) turned in a strong effort for LHU in the midfield.

The Lady Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. when they travel to Clarion University for PSAC West action.
