CLARION, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (7-8-1, 4-7-1 PSAC West) earned a 3-3 draw on the road tonight at Clarion University (3-10-3, 0-8-3 PSAC West) in a hard-fought Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division clash.

The Lady Eagles found themselves down early, but battled back and took a 2-1 lead into haftime.

Trailing 1-0, freshman Brianna Orth (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) took a pass from fellow classmate Carly D’Orsaneo (Elverson, Pa./Living World) and buried it home to tie the match at 1-1 in the 29th minute.

With just 1:18 left to play in the opening half a Lindsey Blessing (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) corner kick found Jessie Cox (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata), who put the ball in the back of net, giving LHU the 2-1 lead.

LHU went up 3-1 in 66th minute on a goal by D’Orsaneo.

The Golden Eagles would fight back however, looking to protect their home turf and eventually drew even sending the game into overtime.

Both teams battled hard through 20 minutes of extra time.

Lock Haven created several good chances to take home the win, but just couldn’t find the game-winner in the 110 minute battle.

Freshman goalie Hayley Zinn (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) kept LHU in the game in the second with several huge stops. She made six saves in the contest.

LHU head coach Heather Davis was pleased with the team’s effort today on the road and called it a classic PSAC West battle.

Davis was again pleased with her defensive effort and noted the strong play of midfielder Rachel Rorke (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg), who also assisted on LHU’s third goal.

The Lady Eagles are back in action on Friday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. when they play host to Edinboro University in PSAC West action.
