KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (22-4, 8-0 PSAC East) downed Kutztown University 3-0 tonight on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action.
Lock Haven downed KU 25-10, 25-16 and 25-19.
With the win the Lady Eagles improve to 22-4 overall and remain perfect in PSAC East action at 8-0. The win is the third straight for LHU, who also downed the Golden Bears 3-0 at home back in September.
LHU head coach Tom Justice was very pleased with the team’s performance tonight, saying that the Lady Eagles came out really strong and executed exceptionally well.
Leading the way for the Haven was Stacey Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), who had a team-high 14 kills. She hit .550 over the three games and also chipped in with six digs.
Christina Laury (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) turned in a 13-kill night that Justice called one of her best performances to date. Laury hit .420 with just two hitting errors on the night.
Juliana Nasceimento (Guarulhos, Brazil/Seward Community C.C.) was outstanding, hitting .625 with 11 kills.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consego de. E.S.) recorded 36 assists and had six digs. She also had two aces.
Borgia led The Haven in blocking as well with one solo block and two block assists.
As a team LHU hit .480, .407 and .406, respectively over the three-game match.
Those numbers had Justice particularly pleased.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. when they play host to Shippensburg University in PSAC East action.
