LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (24-4, 10-0 PSAC East) was running on all cylinders tonight as the Lady Eagles dominated visiting Millersville University (7-16, 2-9 PSAC East) 3-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.
LHU won 25-13, 25-5 and 25-19.
With the win Lock Haven improves to 24-4 overall and remains perfect in conference action with a 10-0 record.
LHU dominated the visiting Marauders from the opening serve as The Haven cruised to its 5-0 straight win.
Senior Stacey Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) was sensational tonight on the home court, as she racked up a match-high 16 kills to pace the Lady Eagles dominating attack.
Borgia hit a sizzling .761 with zero errors in 21 attempts. She also had three aces, four digs and two blocks in all-around performance.
Lock Haven led 4-3 in game one before six straight Haven points broke open the game. Nine of Borgia’s 16 kills game in game one.
It was Lock Haven’s defensive effort setting the tone in game two, as The Haven jumped out to a lopsided 10-0 lead. Five of LHU’s first eight points in game two came off blocks.
Kim Windstein (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) played a role in four of those five blocks. She finished the match with a team-high eight blocks.
Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Australia/Gladstone) was solid for LHU with nine kills. She also added three aces and four digs.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de. E.S.) recorded a match-high 30 assists, running her season total to 872.
Lock Haven returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. when it plays host to West Chester in PSAC East action.
