LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams hosted the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships today at West Branch Cross Country course and both teams turned in solid performances.
The No. 21 Bald Eagles took third place and were led by four All-PSAC performances. The Lady Eagles finished seventh overall, marking one of their best showings in recent years.
The Haven women also had two All-Conference performers, marking the first time that the Lady Eagles have ever accomplished that feat.
On the men’s side, No. 12 Edinboro University (56 points) won its second straight PSAC title and was followed by Slippery Rock (65 points).
LHU was third with 85 points.
Lock Haven was led by junior Brandon Pomerantz (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) and sophomore Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), who placed seventh and eighth, respectively.
Pomertantz finished with a time of 25:04 and Getz was only three seconds behind him with a time of 25:07.
Nick Hilton (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) and Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) also earned All-PSAC honors.
Hilton was 12th with a time of 25:27 and Yeatts was 18th with a time of 25:39.
California (Pa.) University’s Chris Clark won the men’s individual title with a time of 23:56, as he led the top-four men’s finishers in under the previous meet record.
On the women’s side LHU was led by senior Shala Simms (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) and freshman Lindsey Lambert (Howell, N.J./Howell), who became The Haven’s first ever duo of women to place in the top-10 at the PSAC Championships.
Simms was seventh with a time of 21:44 and Lambert was ninth with a time of 21:54.
Shippensburg won the women’s team title with 70 points, thanks in large part to freshman Neely Spence, who won the individual title with a time of 20:59.
