LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (9-9-1) closed out the 2008 season in a big way as the Lady Eagles rolled past Lake Erie (2-11) 7-0.

Six different Lady Eagles scored for Lock Haven as it cruised in the second half.

Freshman Carly D’Orsaneo (Elverson, Pa./Living World) put LHU up 1-0 in the 30th minute, scoring what would be the eventual game-winner.

LHU took the 1-0 lead into the break, but poured it on in the second half.

Kellie Wieger (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) put LHU up 2-0 with a goal in the 53rd minute of play. Less than three minutes later Arielle Gordon (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) made it 3-0 Lock Haven with here team-leading seventh goal of the year.

Just over a minute later D’Orsaneo scored the fifth goal of her rookie season to make it 4-0.

Senior Lindsey Blessing (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) stole the show on Senior Day in the 75th minute as she drilled home a free kick from 18 yards out.

Blessing finished with one goal and one assist.

Brittany Cranmer (Lock Haven, Pa./Lock Haven) and Caitlyn Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./UMBC) rounded out the scoring for LHU.

Blessing and fellow senior Heidi Weller (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) played strong games for The Haven in their final matches in crimson and white.

The win also marked the 100th career win for LHU head coach Heather Davis.

Katie Smithmeyer (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) got the start in net, but wasn’t forced to make a save as The Haven’s strong defensive effort only allowed one shot on net. Kim Bentley (Springdale, Pa./Springdale) saw some action between the pipes late and made one save.

Lock Haven closes out the 2008 season with a 9-9-1 record.
