LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (25-4, 11-0 PSAC East) downed visiting West Chester University (22-7, 9-2 PSAC East) 3-2 in a battle of two the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division’s top teams.
The Lady Eagles downed the Golden Rams 25-20, 25-13, 25-27, 24-26 and 15-11 in a hard fought division battle.
With the win The Haven improves to 25-4 overall and a perfect 11-0 in PSAC East action as LHU sits atop the conference standings. At 9-2 in PSAC East action, West Chester’s only two losses have come at the hands of the Lady Eagles.
Leading the way for Lock Haven was senior Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), who took full advantage of playing in Thomas Fieldhouse for the last time on Senior Night.
Borgia turned in a monster night with 22 kills, while hitting a sensational .666. She also recorded a team-high six blocks and tallied three digs.
Fellow senior Juliana Nascimento (Guarulhos, Brazil/Seward C.C.) also turned in a tremendous match, as she too, made sure she went out with a bang. Nascimento wasn’t far off Borgia’s torrid pace with 21 kills of her own.
Nasimento hit .533 and racked up four blocks.
Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Australia/Gladstone) helped The Haven effort with nine kills.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de. E.S.) was solid for LHU with seven kills and 60 assists.
Tonight’s win extends LHU’s unbeaten streak to six matches.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. when they close out the regular season on the road at East Stroudsburg.
