Arre named Preseason All-American

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Billy Arre (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) of the Lock Haven University men’s basketball ball team has been named a Preseason All-American.

Arre picked up NCAA Division II Bulletin 2008-09 Preseason All-American Honorable Mention honors, as he looks to cap off an already remarkable career during his senior campaign.

Arre has netted 1,615 career points and is only 102 away from breaking LHU’s all-time scoring record. He has averaged 20.2 points per game in his career, starting all, but three games over three seasons.

Last season, Arre averaged 20.1 points per game led the team in rebounds with 5.2 per contest.

A year ago, Arre shot 44 percent from the field, which was a team high in that category. He also led the team in three-pointers made (66), free throws made (90), free throw percentage (84.1%) and rebounds (135). Defensively, Arre led the team with defensive boards (102), as well as leading the team in blocks (15) and steals (28).

Arre, a three-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West First Team selection was named Player of the Year in 2007 and picked up Rookie of the Year honors in 2006.

Arre and his Bald Eagle teammates kick off the 2008-09 season on Saturday, Nov. 15 on the road at No. 14 C.W. Post. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
