LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (27-4) cruised in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Quarterfinal action as the Lady Eagles downed visiting East Stroudsburg University (15-21) 3-0 tonight in Thomas Fieldhouse.

Lock Haven rolled past ESU 25-9, 25-22 and 25-7 as they were clicking in all facets of the game.

Leading the way for LHU was senior Stacey Borgia (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), who had a team-high 10 kills while hitting a sizzling .750. She also had eights digs and two blocks.

LHU went down 2-0 early in game one, but quickly bounced back and took a 6-2 lead. Three of The Haven’s first six points of the match game by way of Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Australia/Gladstone) aces.

Naumann had a solid outing as she chipped in with seven kills and a match-high six aces.

Game two was a closer affair as Lock Haven edged ESU 25-22. Five of Borgia’s 10 kills came in game two as she helped The Haven pull out the important game-two win.

In game three, Lock Haven jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, which paved the way for the win. Three of LHU’s first five point in the final game came via Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de. E.S.) aces.

Gomez turned in an all-around effort tonight for LHU as she contributed three aces, two kills, four digs, two blocks and a match-high 27 assists.

Juliana Nascimento (Guarulhos, Brazil/Seward C.C.) and Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) each had five kills.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday, Nov. 14 when they travel to California (Pa.) University for PSAC Semifinal action. Lock Haven will be action at 5 p.m. against the winner of tonight’s match between Mercyhurst and Edinboro.
