LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Lindsey Blessing (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and sophomore Caitlyn Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./UMBC) of the Lock Haven University women’s soccer team have been named to the 2008 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West First Team for their recent efforts in leading the Lady Eagles this past season.
Blessing, a senior-captain was The Haven’s workhorse in the midfield and key contributor on set plays for LHU.
She started all 19 games for Lock Haven, always giving this young squad a constant and experienced presence in the middle of the field.
Blessing finished the season with one goal and three assists.
She capped off her career with a big game against Lake Erie on “Senior Day.” in the Lady Eagles season finale. She scored a brilliant free kick goal and assisted on one other as LHU rolled past the Storm 7-0, capping off a solid season for LHU and head coach Heather Davis.
Slattery, a local product and Division I transfer made an immediate impact on Lock Haven. She anchored a solid and talented defensive unit that shutout opponents five times.
Slattery quickly netted her first goal in crimson and white, as she scored the loan goal and game-winner in the season-opener. Lock Haven downed Shepherd 1-0 at home kicking off the 2008 season on the right foot.
She finished the year with one two goals and one assist from her fullback spot.
The Lady Eagles went 9-9-1 overall and 5-8-1 in PSAC West play.
