LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Four members of the Lock Haven University men’s soccer team have earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West honors, as all four players were keys in leading the Bald Eagles to a sensational season.
Junior Tommy Ehrlich (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) earned a spot on the First Team, while freshman Greg Shertzer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) was named PSAC West Rookie of the Year.
Senior Paul Huckett (Grimsby, England/Grimsby College) and junior Andrew Clemens (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) both earned Second Team honors.
Ehrlich, a speedy outside midfielder provided a solid spark for The Haven all season long, playing in all 20 matches for LHU. He finished the year with three goals and six assists (12 points). In a 6-0 shutout of the University of the District of Columbia, Ehrlich led the way with a five-point game. He scored two goals and set up a third.
Shertzer was nothing short of sensational in his rookie campaign. He started 13 games and played in all 20 for LHU, as he quickly made an impact up top. Shertzer finished the season with eight goals, second best on the team. He also chipped in with five assists for 21-point rookie year. His eight goals came in eight different matches and he scored one game-winner.
Huckett, one of The Haven’s most decorated players capped off his remarkable career with a team-high nine goals. He also dished out five assists for a team-high 23 points. He scored a team-best three game-winning goals and tallied his nine goals in nine different contests. Huckett started all 19 games he played in.
Huckett’s 29 career assists ranks as fourth-best in school history and his 115 career points are No. 5 on the all time Haven list.
For the third season, Clemens anchored Lock Haven’s solid and stingy defense. Clemens’s was a mainstay on the backline for The Haven as he provided leadership and experience. He also chipped in on offense with two goals.
Clemens’s leadership on defense helped the Bald Eagles shutout seven opponents.
The Haven went an impressive 11-6-3 overall and was 3-3-2 in the ultra competitive PSAC West.
