LHU Swimming - Women

Terray leads Lady Eagles in pool with NCAA qualifying mark

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swim team was in action today at the Zimmerli Pool as the Lady Eagles hosted IUP and Kutztown.

LHU fell to IUP 83-38 and KU 96-25, while Kutztown downed IUP 71-51.

Lock Haven head coach Andy Waeger knew before today’s action even started that his Lady Eagles would be facing some tough competition and that’s exactly what Waeger wanted.

Waeger was pleased with the effort of The Haven today and made note of the four women’s pool records set, which shows how deep the competition was this afternoon.

Leading the way for the Lady Eagles was All-American Amanda Terrray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley). The sophomore led off the 400 medley relay with a NCAA Division II “B” cut time in the 100 backstroke.

Terray’s time of 58.76 also set a LHU pool record.

Terray also added two first-place finishes on the day, as she won the 100 and 200 individual backstroke events. She clocked a 59.73 in the 100 (NCAA B cut) and won the 200 in a time of 2:10. 74.

Amanda Palmer (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) was third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:22.26, as she too was solid for LHU.

Waeger said, that each week his team’s gets stronger, which has him very excited.

The Lady Eagles dive back into the pool next week at the IUP Crimson Hawk Invitational, which runs from Thursday, Nov. 20 to Saturday, Nov. 22.
