LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - When the Lock Haven University women’s soccer team takes to the field in August they will do so looking for their fourth Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships in nine years and first since 2001.
The Lady Eagles certainly have the make up a team ready to make a championship run as they return 19 players and talented group of six which makes up their 2007 recruiting class.
Head coach Heather Kendra-Davis’s 2007 recruiting class is made up of six freshmen with all six hailing from inside the Pennsylvania borders.
Jessie Cox – Defender – Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata
Cox was named high school varsity captain and was a Lancaster-Lebanon League Second Team All-Star in 2006. Plans to major in exploratory studies.
Kendra Davis’s comments on Cox: “We are thrilled that Jessie has chosen LHU. She is a passionate player and a natural leader on the field. She is a hard-nosed player who will adapt to the college game quickly,” said
Brittany Cranmer – Forward – Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain
A three-year varsity letter winner, Cranmer led her team to PIAA Eastern Final in 2006 and also was a Lock Haven Express All-Star in 2006. She is an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society. Plans to major in math.
Kendra-Davis on Cranmer: “Brittany is a powerful attacking player with an outstanding long range shot. We are looking forward to Brittany adding a new dimension to our offense.”
Alissa Gamelier – Forward/Midfield – Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley
Gamelier was an All-WPIAL selection in 2006, was named high school varsity captain in ’06 and played club soccer for Northern Steel and the Pittsburgh Strikers. Plans to major in health and physical education.
Kendra-Davis on Gamelier: “Alissa is one of the top defensive players coming out of the Pittsburgh area this year. She is a strong, physical player who can also play a possession game.”
Arielle Gordon – Forward/Midfield – Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata
Gordon was named Lancaster-Lebanon League first-team all-star in 2006. She has played club soccer for the Pennsylvania Classics and also ODP soccer for EPYSA. Plans to major in pre-physical therapy.
Kendra-Davis on Gordon: “Arielle is a crafty attacker who plays with edge. She never quits and can hurt teams with both her athleticism and skill.”
Karee Schad – Goalkeeper – Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown
Schad is an honor roll student and Who’s Who among high school athletes. She has made Suburban One first-team all-league and also played club soccer for Bux Mont United and ODP for EPYSA. Plans to major in health and physical education.
Kendra-Davis on Schad: “Karee is a talented , athletic goalkeeper with great hands. We are excited that she has selected Lock Haven.”
Aubrie Smith – Goalkeeper – York, Pa./West York
Smith was named team captain in high school and the team most valuable player in ’04, ’05, and ’06 as well as garnering a YAIAA all-star selection. She has played club soccer fro York United and ODP for EPYSA. Plans to major in athletic training.
Kendra-Davis on Smith: “Aubrie is a versatile player, with experience both in the net and on the field. She’ll be a solid and valuable addition to the program.”
